This isn't my area of expertise-I'm more a programmer, not an installer or systems guy-but if I were having this trouble, I'd either try to find someone at Microsoft to help, or, having pre-given up on that in disgust, just remove and reinstall. If I try to insert a module, all of the options are grayed out and inaccessible. Now when I go into the VBA editor, the Project Panel is blank. Thanks for any help you can give or directions you can point me in. I created an empty excel file and saved it as Personal.xlsm in the Office12/XLSTART folder in the office directory but that didn't help. When I tried again a short time ago, it didn't.īased upon some internet investigation, I looked for a Personal.xlsm file and found there wasn't one. I tried to record a simple macro in Word a couple of days ago and it seemed to work. It currently doesn't work in either of them. It was at this point (I think) that I started having trouble.Īs far as trying with other office products, I only used the macro capability with Excel and Visio. Previously, when I did this, the Project Panel would show the active workbook and would allow me to create a new module. I open a new, empty workbook, save it as a macro-enabled workbook, and then open the macro editor. Were you able to record macros in PP before this? But you say macros don't work, so presumably you knew where to look, which implies you've done it before. I never use PowerPoint-have never even opened it before today, on this machine-but when I look at it now, I notice that recording a macro doesn't seem to be one of the options in the Developer tab. What about the other apps-Outlook, Publisher, Office itself, Access if you have it?Īs far as I know, all the Office apps have the ability to use VBA macros. Interesting that the Powerpoint macro capability should die at the same time Excel's did, but not Word. Oh, and you say one day your machine hiccoughed: Do you remember more exactly? Not sure it would tell us anything, but you never know. When you say the VBA editor tells you there are no open projects, I take it you mean you open a workbook with macros embedded (at least, there were macros in it before this problem), and now the VBA explorer window shows only Excel worksheets, no modules? Or if not that, exactly, then what?Īnd what happens when you try to insert a new module there? I've never run across this before, myself.
